A lot of electronic and electric stuff are often pretty easy to fix. Sometimes it isn't even an electrical problem but more a mechanical one. Below you will find some general tips when doing repair work on electronic devices. Also check out my repairblog pages where I describe all repair cases I come in connection with.

Tip #1. Remote controls
When doing repairwork on remote controls it is very useful to have a digital camera. With this you can directly see if the IR diode is working or not. As you can see on the picture, the IR diode shines brightly when viewed through the digital camera. A video camera will most often also work. This is because the CCD device in the camera is sensitive not only to visible light but also to IR light. This is supposed to be filtered out with an optical filter but the intense light from an IR diode in a remote control will shine through anyway.
