2007-04-07 Deja Vu

This is a movie which I liked very much. Not only because Denzel Washington is perfect for this role or because the story is great but also because it gives a totally new angle to time traveling. Even if the whole concept of the technology that is used is a bit dodgy. For one thing, why can they only go back exactly 4 days and 7 hours? But once you accept this, the movie is absolutely brilliant. And this is from a man that is confident that time traveling never is going to be possible. The fact that they only can see the past from a constant offset in time, 4 days and 7 hours, which becomes like a second "now" to them, gives a totally new dimension to police work on film. Take the car chase which takes place both now and in the past - at the same time, for example, or the tech staff that has to witness a murder, just as they are there right now, but still not.

I give this movie 8+ out of 10.

With that said, there are some things in the movie that annoys me; why does there have to be the sound like servo motors running and positioning something when they change angle in the data stream? This is just digital data, right? No need for motors here. The second thing that stands out is - do they not have circuit breakers over there? If something uses to much power than the grid can handle, the fuses blows - the whole city doesn't black out! That said, it still is a very good movie - go see it.

8+/10
